Why UA92
We’re UA92. Deliberately different.
Born from the Class of ’92 and Lancaster University, we exist to break down barriers, open up opportunities, and deliver an outstanding student experience that genuinely changes lives.
But none of that happens without our people.
The Role
This is a leadership role at the heart of our World of Media provision, responsible for shaping and delivering a high-quality, industry-relevant student experience.
You’ll lead on the development and delivery of Media programmes, working closely with other Course Leaders and the Head of Department to bring our deliberately different approach to life through teaching, curriculum and assessment.
Alongside this, you’ll line manage academic colleagues, support their development, and ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to teaching and student support.
A key part of the role is maintaining strong links with industry to ensure our curriculum stays relevant, practical and aligned to the skills students need beyond graduation.
It’s a visible role with real impact on student outcomes, team performance and the ongoing development of our academic offer.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading the design and development of modules and programmes within the World of Media
Delivering engaging, high-quality teaching, assessment and feedback
Ensuring strong student outcomes including progression, attainment and retention
Line managing and supporting academic staff to deliver consistently high standards
Working with the Senior Academic Team to develop and evolve a sector-relevant curriculum
Building and maintaining relationships with industry partners to enhance learning and employability
Contributing to quality assurance, enhancement activity and academic processes
Continuously improving the student experience through a responsive, student-centred approach
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with strong academic and/or professional credibility who can lead from the front and bring passion to both teaching and course leadership.
You’ll bring:
A Masters qualification in Media, Journalism or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
A relevant degree or professional background in Media, Journalism or associated disciplines
A teaching qualification (PGCertHE / HEA Fellowship) or willingness to work towards one
Experience teaching in Higher Education, or clear ability to do so
Experience supporting student development and delivering strong learning outcomes
The ability to contribute across a broad subject area, with depth in a specialist area
Experience of curriculum development and/or course leadership (desirable)
A collaborative, flexible approach aligned to UA92’s way of working

Why UA92?
You’ll be joining at a point where you can shape the development of our Media provision, influence curriculum design, and have a direct impact on student success.
This is an opportunity to combine teaching, leadership and industry engagement in a way that’s genuinely different to traditional Higher Education.
